Welcome to Our P&C

Our Parents & Citizens’ Association (P&C) is at the heart of Kareela Public School’s community. We’re a dedicated group of parents, carers, teachers, and community members working together to support the school, build strong connections, and create opportunities that enrich every child’s learning experience.

What We Do

The P&C plays a vital role in making our school an even better place to learn and grow. We undertake regular — and often ambitious — fundraising activities throughout the year to provide resources, equipment, and experiences that go above and beyond what school funding alone can achieve.

From fun days and community events to special lunches, discos, trivia nights, raffles, and of course the much-loved Kareela Karnivale held every second year, our efforts bring families together while raising funds that directly benefit the children of KPS. The P&C also runs the uniform shop,  with all profits reinvested back into school projects.

In short, here’s what we do:

• Fundraising & Events – From sausage sizzles to the Kareela Karnivale, our events bring families together and raise vital funds for school programs and resources.
• Uniform Shop – Run entirely by volunteers, making uniforms accessible and affordable for families.

• Advocacy & Voice – Representing parents and carers; and working collaboratively with school leadership to ensure our children thrive.

What We've Acheived

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our school community, the P&C has helped deliver a long list of improvements and initiatives, including:

• School renovations and beautification such as upgrading the playground, hall improvements, and air conditioning in every classroom, library, office, and staffroom.
• Technology investments like iPad and laptop class sets, charging docks, and essential classroom tools.
• Subsidised programs including Reading Eggs for all students, and contributions of over $30,000 towards home readers.
• Future-focused learning projects supported by additional grants and P&C funding to keep our school well-equipped for modern education.
• Sustainability initiatives such as funding composting bins, supporting worm farm upgrades, and helping the school implement effective new waste systems.

Our Flagship Events

After a short break, the Kareela Karnivale returned in 2025 and was a resounding success — a day full of laughter, rides, delicious food stalls, games, raffles, and entertainment. It’s one of our biggest fundraisers and a shining example of the community spirit at the heart of KPS.

Alongside this, we continue to run a variety of annual events such as Mother’s and Father’s Day gift stalls, special lunch days (like subs, donuts, or pizza), themed trivia nights, school discos, movie nights, sausage sizzles, and other fundraising stalls.

✨ Whether it’s raising funds, volunteering time, or simply coming along to enjoy our events, the P&C thrives on community involvement. Every contribution helps create a richer, more vibrant school life for our kids — while also building a greener, more sustainable future.

How You Can Help

Want to make a difference at KPS? Join our P&C! Everyone is welcome, and every little bit of involvement makes a big impact for our kids. There’s no pressure to commit lots of time — just help when and how you can.

Here are some simple ways to get involved:

• Come along to a P&C meeting — even if it’s just to listen and learn.
• Volunteer for an event or fundraiser — it’s fun, rewarding, and a great way to connect.
• Lend a hand when you’re available — even a short amount of time can make a big difference.
• Share your ideas — your voice and perspective are always valued.

We meet twice per term (Week 3 and Week 8) on a Wednesday evening in the school staffroom. Please feel free to come along and see what we are all about. We are a friendly group of parents with one common goal: supporting our children.

We’d love to see new faces and truly value every contribution, big or small.
